Fethiye Times - LOVE-FETHIYE

If you find yourself in Bodrum this summer, why not consider a blue cruise to some of the fabulous nearby coastal and island destinations? Throughout the summer months, Alaturka has scheduled gulet cruises departing every week for the Gulf of Gökova and the north or south Dodecanese islands of Greece.

Private yacht charters are also possible from Bodrum and this option will give you the freedom to customize your route to the preferences and interests of your group. Bodrum is also a destination in itself and should be included as a highlight of any blue cruise journey that originates from this charming port town. Allow yourself time to explore the Twin Bays and Bodrum Castle before boarding your gulet to any of the following destinations.

Gulf of Gökova

The Gokova region is a highlight of the Turkish coastline and Bodrum is the perfect blue cruise launching point to explore the area.

Bodrum

Orak Island – This uninhabited island is the first stop on the Gokova route and is well known as a spectacular diving destination. Many day trip boats will also be anchored here as the underwater scenery is well worth a full day to explore the 80 meter high colorful reef wall that this spot is most known for. Diving in this area has been compared to swimming in an aquarium. The waters are crystal clear and there is plenty of underwater wildlife to observe.

The English Harbor – Historically named after being used as a British military base in the second world war, the English Harbor is an ideal anchoring spot where passengers can enjoy a lovely day of swimming and relaxing on board. This is an extremely peaceful and secluded place and there are even a few restaurants nestled in this area of the coastline where visitors can enjoy a evening drink in an uniquely peaceful atmosphere.

The Seven Islands – This series of islands in Bodrum province are worth exploring while cruising the Gökova region. The islands form a chain and it is enjoyable to explore them on foot or even just snorkel around the small bays.

Karacasöğüt Village – Karacasöğüt village is only a short distance from Marmaris and is a popular spot for those looking to escape the hustle and bustle of the city. Caves and waterfalls can be found only a few kilometers away so as you disembark here, be sure to venture out a bit and explore the natural wonders of the area.

North Greek Islands

This route from Bodrum to the northern Dodecanese Greek islands is the perfect island hopping experience and passengers will have the opportunity to disembark and explore the islands of Kos, Pserimos, Xerakampos, Leros, Platanos, Lipsi, Patmos, and Kalymnos.

Kos Island

To get a taste of what the islands (both large and small) in this region have to offer, the northern route includes the most islands visits out of all Alaturka Bodrum cruise options. Kos is the 2nd largest Dodecanese island and is known for its abundance of pristine sandy beaches. Disembark here to take nature walks around the island and find a spot in the evening to witness a magnificent Mediterranean sunset. The remaining islands all have so much to offer, from delicious Greek cuisine, fascinating historical remains, and incredible natural beauty.

With plenty of time to explore each island and to swim and snorkel in the crystal clear waters along the way, it is no wonder that Alaturka operates this route every week throughout the height of the summer season.

 South Greek Islands

This route from Bodrum also makes a stop on the island of Kos and makes further stops at Nisyros, Symi, and Rhodes. Nisyros is a volcanic island with few tourist facilities. Featuring quiet and clean beaches and the picturesque villages of Mandraki and Nikia, this is a peaceful stop along the southern route.

Symi is a slightly larger island and is most known for its colorful waterfront lined with 14th century Italian Neoclassical mansions. Be sure to have your cameras out as your gulet approaches the Symi harbor and upon disembarking, feel free to wander the harbor town of Ano Symi (Upper Symi) and maybe even venture to the other side of the island to visit the famous monastery and museum at Panormitis, both part of this well-known Greek Orthodox pilgrimage site.

 Rhodes

A final Blue Cruise Bodrum that will not only show you some of the best spots along the Turkish coastline, but will also bring you to the vibrant Greek island of Rhodes, is this route that travels from Bodrum to Rhodes and back again. This is a shorter route and is best for travelers who do not have a week to spend on any of the previously mentioned route options.

Rhodes is the largest island of the Dodecanese chain and has a population of approximately 50,000 people which increases significantly during the busy summer months. As the center of the island is mostly mountainous, the majority of inhabitants live in the towns of Rhodes and Lindos, which are both well worth a visit during your time docked at Rhodes harbor. The long history of this island has left many Gothic and Ottoman ruins to explore, including the castle and medieval old town which earned World Heritage status in 1988.

This route also makes stops at the islands of Kos, Symi, and Nisyros as well as in the small seaside Turkish town of Bozburun. With the perfect mix of nature, history, and some vibrant nightlife on the island of Rhodes, this 5-day, 4-night option is great for those travelers limited on time.

Join Alaturka this summer for a cruise from Bodrum you will not forget. With our many years of professional experience and options for the best gulet routes from Bodrum, your next holiday in Turkey is sure to be an incredibly relaxing and exciting adventure.
