Anyone who’s seen the Glamour Girls knows what a great show it is. This very special blend of cabaret, drag, dance, music and comedy has been a huge hit with locals and holidaymakers alike for the past three seasons.
No surprise, then, that their second dedicated fundraising evening for Yaşam İçin Yarış (Race For Life Turkey) proved to be another massive success.
A night of fun and laughter
Fronted by the gorgeous Miss BeeHave (aka Clark W Burton) and his equally stunning ‘sister from another mister’ Joanna Play (Jay Myers), the audience was entertained, amused and downright enthralled from start to finish.

The evening combined some of the Glamour Girls’ most popular segments from each of their two regular shows, including numbers from Grease, The Little Mermaid and The Sound of Music, anthems from Cher and the Spice Girls, and parodies including Riverdance and Shopping in Lidl.

As ever there was plenty of audience participation required, and the duo were also joined on stage by two of the area’s renowned live singers – Shelly, who wowed those present with her powerful vocals, and Hasan, whose ‘Rat Pack’ style had everyone’s feet tapping along.

The show finished in traditional style, with Clark and Jay revealing the guys behind the girls to the strains of This Is Me from The Greatest Showman.

Everyone dug deep
Of course, amid all the fun and laughter there was a serious cause – raising money for Yaşam için Yarış, which takes place in Fethiye on Sunday, October 27. And what a fantastic amount that turned out to be, with 21,215TL – more than £3,000 at current exchange rates – made through ticket sales, a raffle and a silent auction on the night.

“It was a wonderful evening and we’re very grateful to Glamour for putting on a special show for such a worthwhile cause,” said Lyn Ward, Fethiye Times proprietor and co-chairman of the Yaşam için Yarış committee.
“Not just to the girls themselves, but to everyone connected with the event, including the bar and wait staff who so kindly gave their time, and even Joanna Play’s mum, Rita, who dressed up as Shrek and did an additional collection during the interval!”

Glamour manager Lisa Köse said: “We were delighted to once again show our support for Yaşam için Yarış with a special show. Cancer is a disease that touches so many people, affecting us and those we love. We’re happy to know we’re helping those in our community who are suffering.”
