Fethiye Bowling Association Armistice Day competition

“The annual Fethiye Bowling Association Armistice Day competition was held last weekend, finishing with Finals day on Sunday. Over the three days, we had 44 members competing to the opportunity to play on Sunday, a huge statement of the significance of the event. Some excellent play was witnessed but, come Finals Sunday there were only 8 left and by the afternoon, only two to contest the final.
However, before that could take place, we held a brief ceremony to mark Remembrance Sunday, at 2:00, to coincide with the 11:00 ceremony at the Cenotaph in London. Several members of the public joined in a hugely moving event. Many thanks to Robert Greening and John Holmes, both ex-members of the Armed Forces, for their input and to all who took part.
The final was an amazingly close event between Ian Topping and Mandy Whettam, with both coming close to victory but it was Ian who eventually took top spot. So, congratulations to Ian and well done Mandy for a brave fight. Both were worthy finalists.” – June Waddell Hall
