Çalış Children’s Charity (3C’s) hosted their 12th Christmas Fair on Sunday 1st December. The day started ominously with torrential rain threatening to ruin the day. Thankfully, after a very wet start, the weather relented and the sun shone.
With more than 160 stalls, this was the largest Christmas fair yet and vendors and visitors flocked from all around the area, including Marmaris, Köyceğiz, Dalyan, and Dalaman. The fair was packed with visitors all day – many of them dressed for the season.

There was a superb range of hand-made items, including crochet, driftwood and stone sculptures, cakes, preserves, jams, jewellery, ceramics, hand-made greeting cards and various kinds of art works.
The 3C’s stall had a very successful day and was very busy selling a range of children’s toys (including hand-made soft toys), books, glass and ceramic ornaments. There was the always popular tombola and mulled wine was enjoyed throughout the day.
The stall raised a grand total of 9,326 TL.

To add a festive feel to the day, the Fethiye Community Choir sang Christmas carols and popular Christmas songs, including Silent Night, Jingle Bells and Frosty the Snowman.

Santa Claus is coming to town
Of course, the highlight of the day was the arrival of Santa Claus and his helpers, including one of his reindeers. They arrived in style in a modern-day sleigh provided by Fethiye Zabita, who drove them along Çalış sea front to Santa’s House where dozens of children were waiting to visit Santa.

Local television crews covered the event and were keen to know the background of 3C’S and what funds raised at the Christmas Fair and events and throughout the year are used for.
Cathy Harrower, head of the 3C’s committee said “We hope all of the visitors and stall holders had a successful and very enjoyable day and wish everyone a happy and healthy Christmas.
We would like to thank our volunteers who worked so hard to prepare for the fair, FETAV who are always available to advise and support us, Fethiye Zabita and Belediye for their help at our events, Çalış Tourism Association and of course Santa Claus for taking time out of his busy schedule preparing for Christmas, in order to visit the children of Fethiye.”
