The death rate of coronavirus patients continued to fall in Turkey on Wednesday, as the number of recoveries hit 5,231 with 89 new losses.
Turkey on Wednesday confirmed 89 more deaths from the novel coronavirus, bringing the death toll to 3,081.
The total number of registered coronavirus cases in the country increased to 117,589 as 2,936 more people tested positive for the virus, Turkey’s Ministry of Health announced in a statement.
A further 5,321 people recovered from the virus bringing the total number of recoveries to 44,022.
It added that 43,498 tests were conducted over the past day, with the overall number of tests reaching 991,613.
Turkey is currently treating 1,574 patients in intensive care units.

Health Minister Fahrettin Koca also said in a press conference on Wednesday that the death rate of coronavirus patients in intensive care units has fallen from 58% to 10%.
He added that Turkey has 5,849 filiation units currently on duty, these units have detected 468,390 people in the contact chain of COVID-19 patients.
“This success does not mean that we will give up on measures but cling to them instead. We will continue measures throughout this month,”
A total of 7,428 health workers have been infected, he added.
Turkey sees peak point of COVID-19 outbreak
Turkey is at the peak point of the novel coronavirus outbreak, Health Minister Fahrettin Koca said in a statement yesterday.
“I can say that we are at the peak period, but we are seeing a fall in the number of cases” he said at a press conference, adding that risk of a new wave is possible if the current measures are not followed. “But such a thing cannot happen with these measures.”
We will to adhere to these measures throughout May, he noted.
“The issue of whether our adults over the age of 65 can go out for short walks (without using a vehicle) for a few hours is on our agenda. We talked about it, but no decision has been made yet” he said.

Turkey ranks third worldwide in supplying medical aid
A Turkish military plane carrying medical supplies landed in the US on Tuesday to support the country’s fight against the coronavirus pandemic as it reported over one million confirmed cases.
Turkey is the third biggest supplier of medical aid worldwide amid the coronavirus outbreak, Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu has said.
The country also provides the largest amount of humanitarian aid in the world, he said.

Three-day curfew curfew starts at midnight
Turkey will impose a three-day curfew in 31 provinces from midnight on April 30 to midnight on May 3 as part of measures to stem the spread of the novel coronavirus. (Turkey marks Labor and Solidarity Day on May 1).
The government circular indicates certain businesses and individuals are exempt from the curfew.
PLEASE NOTE:
On May 1, people will be allowed to go to the nearest markets and grocery stores* for essential items from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
* Refers to stores within walking distance – NOT DRIVING DISTANCE.
Markets and grocery stores will be closed on May 2 and May 3

MUĞLA PROVINCE HYGIENE COUNCIL EXCEPTIONS
The Muğla Province Hygiene Council, have announced the following exceptions to the curfew, in addition to the circular from the Ministry of Internal Affairs,
Employees working in newspaper distribution to our citizens through newspaper distribution companies
b) Farmers and shepherds engaged in cattle / sheep and goat breeding
c) People with pets (dogs, cats, etc.) can take them out – ONLY IN FRONT OF THEIR DOORS – to meet their needs and citizens who want to feed the animals in the shelters.

The government plans to continue curfews on weekends up until the Ramadan Bayram (Eid al-Fitr).
According to a report in Gerçek Fethiye, curfews will be also applied on Saturdays and Sundays for a further three weeks on 9-10 May, 16 -17 May and 23-24 May.
