According to a statement by Fethiye Mayor Alim Karaca, improvement works on 96 Street in Fethiye are nearing completion.

The street, located in the center of Fethiye, is being given a modern facelift. The improvement works include replacement parquet tiling, a canopy and new planters.

Local restaurant owner takes team on a clean up in Ölüdeniz

The coronavirus pandemic has had a profound impact on the environment, albeit temporary, with greenhouse gas emissions decreasing across the globe bringing cleaner air and a recovery in nature whilst people stayed at home.
On the flip side, the Covid-19 crisis has spurred a rapid expansion in the production of desperately-needed plastic products, all of which are discarded and end up somewhere.
The responsible disposal of garbage is a problem the world over, a problem that has worsened throughout the pandemic with used masks and gloves now added to the mix.
Mazlum Göger (Mazzy), owner of local restaurant, Memories in Hisarönü, sprang into action when he saw the amount of discarded rubbish marring the beautiful views across Ölüdeniz.
Without further ado, he closed his restaurant and took his whole team to clean up the rubbish. The ten-strong team – and Chico the dog – collected 30 bags of rubbish.
Mazzy told us, “My restaurant is quieter than normal due to thecoronavirus pandemic so, when I saw the rubbish, I closed up and brought my staff – and Chico the dog – to clean up. We have collected 30 bags of rubbish. Turkey has taken care of me for over twenty years and now it’s my turn to take care of Turkey. Please protect our beautiful country and make sure you throw your rubbish in the bins provided – or take it home with you”

Istanbul Airport Museum opens with exhibition

Apart from serving as Turkey’s gateway to the world, Istanbul Airport is now home to a new museum featuring Anatolian civilization.
Culture and Tourism Minister Mehmet Nuri Ersoy and Istanbul Governor Ali Yerlikaya attended the ribbon-cutting ceremony at the Istanbul Airport Museum on Friday.

The museum opening was launched with an exhibition entitled Treasures of Turkey – Faces of Thrones.
Speaking at the event, Ersoy said that the museum gathers artifacts mirroring all civilizations in Anatolia, Turkey’s heartland.
“One-third of foreign visitors come to Turkey via Istanbul Airport,” Ersoy said, “Last year, around 15 million people entered Turkey from Istanbul Airport and another 15 million people used the airport for transit travels. The museum will create awareness for Anatolian civilizations, especially among transit passengers.”
He added that destinations such as Istanbul have permanent guests visiting every year or twice a year, and for this reason, the museum will change its concept each year.
Yerlikaya, said that the Istanbul Airport Museum is the largest airport museum in the world.
A total of 316 works of art from 29 museums will be displayed at the museum, he elaborated.
“With the most modern technological facilities, we will exhibit the thousands of years of experience of Anatolia and Istanbul, personal belongings of kings and emperors, portraits, the throne of ancestors that once ruled the world,” he said, adding the newly launched museum is the 90th museum in the city.
Turkey’s sites inscribed on UNESCO’s World Heritage List will also be promoted on 18 digital screens, he said, adding interactive applications were also prepared for children.
Turkish Airlines operates second most flights in Europe

Turkish Airlines (THY) ranked second among air carriers in Europe with 568 out of a total of 14,170 flights on July 15, according to Pan-European air traffic control agency Eurocontrol.
Irish budget airline Rynair took the lead with 866 flights on the same day, while Hungary’s Wizz Air ranked third with 499 flights. Air France, which ran 443 flights, and Germany’s Lufthansa, operating 403 flights, followed them.
The number of flights across Europe was down 60 percent compared to the same day in 2019 due to the travel restrictions imposed after the spread of the coronavirus outbreak.
“Hosting 421 flights on July 15, Istanbul Airport was placed fourth among the busiest airports in Europe,” said Turkey’s Directorate General of Civil Aviation (SHGM) in a statement.

Refurbished upside-down house attracts visitors in Antalya
WonderWorks, the amusement park in Orlando Florida, is not the only one to offer an upside-down attraction.

The ‘Ters Ev Aksiyon Parkı’ in Antalya has its own upside-down house that has been newly refurbished.
The exterior appearance of the house initially attracts visitors. Inside the house everything is inverted giving visitors the dizzying experience of walking on the ceiling.

One visitor told Anadolu Agency, “Everything is completely upside down inside. All the items are on the ceiling. You actually feel like you are on the ceiling. It is a place that everyone should see”

Fethiyespor holds groundbreaking ceremony for new clubhouse
The groundbreaking ceremony for the Fethiyespor new club building was held on Friday.
The ceremony was attended by Fethisyspor Club President and Board Members and included a pouring of concrete into the foundations.
The new facility will include administrative and social areas, meeting and analysis rooms, modern accommodation areas for players and technical team, dining hall, archive and museum.
