It doesn’t matter how many images of sunsets we have in our collections, it’s always impossible to resist taking just one more.
And it’s just the same when it comes to enjoying them – so we thought we’d use our Readers Albums slot this week to treat you to some more.
Fethiye resident David Tomkins set himself a lockdown challenge earlier this year and we’re delighted he chose to share the results with us.
Lockdown through a lens
He explains: “I set myself a project to take a photo a day and to post it on social media during the COVID-19 lockdown. All of the photos were taken from my balcony and we were blessed with some wonderful sunsets.
“I retired out here last year but have had the apartment for ten-plus years and have an active life solo paragliding, scuba diving, walking, camping, kayaking and motorcycling. I also enjoy photography – I’ve been trying to improve my night-time star shots recently – and drinking the odd Efes.
“I’ve been lucky to find many good friends who share the same sort of interests and struggle to fit it all in with my lovely wife Anne-Marie.”
But one thing David’s images underline is that, is doesn’t really matter how long you have lived or stayed in Fethiye or how many times you’ve enjoyed a twilight sundowner on your balcony; no two sunsets are ever the same.
Readers’ albums
If you have a collection of photos taken at a location in Turkey which you would like to share, why not submit them for consideration?
They don’t need to be a specific shape but, to reproduce on the website, they do need to be of a reasonable resolution – perhaps 1MB or more. The subject is up to you but – like David– we’d also ask that you include a few details about yourself, what inspired you to take the images and a little bit about them.
