Fethiye Bowling Association Summer League final results.
Over the last ten incredibly hot weeks, the Fethiye Bowling Association has been holding its Summer League, organised by Steve Gudmunsen and assisted by Kath Watson.
Six teams of six, competed in weekly doubles games, with some hot bowling to match the weather. The league was completed last Monday and resulted in the Bowling Stones winning while the Sitting Ducks collected the wooden spoon. Congratulations to the Bowling Stones and commiserations to the Sitting Ducks. And a well done to all 36 players who braved the heat all summer to take part in what was a thoroughly enjoyable Summer League.

On Thursday and Friday, August 27th and 28th, the Fethiye Bowling Association held their latest competition, which found us not only competing against each other but also against some very challenging heat. But, we were undaunted and made it through the two days with no one succumbing to the heat, just to better opponents!
This competition, the Greensman’s Cup, was a mixed doubles, with playing partners decided through the luck of the draw. With 36 members entering, it was a challenging task for our Organiser, Mandy Whettam, but she was more than up to it. Well done, Mandy. And a huge thank you to all the scorers and measurers for their valuable and much appreciated efforts over the two days. Also, to Elaine Patten in support of Mandy, who kept the scorer’s table up to date while Mandy was still competing.
After several rounds of serious competition, we found ourselves at the Finals, with Mel Diggins and Mark Handley taking on Rob McKernan and Jeff Cater. Mel and Mark were worthy winners, at 21-15.
Congratulations to Mel and Mark and a very good try to Rob and Jeff.
