Forest fire in Turkey’s Hatay fully under control, suspected arsonists detained

Two suspects have been detained over their links to a spate of forest fires in southern Turkey, the Turkish interior minister said on Sunday.
An investigation into the cause of the fires continues, Suleyman Soylu told reporters in the Belen District of Hatay province, the location of one of the fires.
The fires began in several parts of Belen district Friday and the forest was still burning on Saturday in windy conditions as helicopters and rescuers sought to douse the flames.
Soylu noted rumors suggesting the fire was set by a terrorist organization.
“We are continuing our investigation into this matter,”
On Saturday, an official said at least 10 people suffered minor injuries due to the fires in the province.
Twenty homes and five vehicles were also damaged, he added.
Bekir Pakdemirli, Turkey’s agriculture and forestry minister, who arrived in Hatay to inspect extinguishing efforts that lasted over 30 hours, also added that the fire is fully under control.

2 million 665 thousand TL refurbishment for Bahriye Üçok Park

Bahriye Üçok Park in the Tuzla district of Fethiye is to undergo a 2 million 665 thousand TL refurbishment. The 5,840 square meter park will include a children’s playground, basketball court, open-air library, shaded seating areas, tea garden, flower show areas, lawn areas and walkways.
The existing section belonging to the Hearing Impaired Association will also be renewed and presented to the association.
The contract with the company who win the tender and will carry out the work, was signed last Tuesday.

Work has started on the park which is expected to be completed by April 2021.

Fethiye Municipality’s performance plan and budget for the year 2021 were unanimously approved in the second October ordinary meeting of the Municipal council this week.
185 million 605 thousand TL was allocated for investments and other social work programs, and 68 million 145 thousand TL for General Management Expenses. The income and expenditure budget of our municipality for 2021 was set as 253 Million 750 Thousand TL.

2 people killed in Ankara railway accident

At least two people were killed and two others injured in a railway accident in the Turkish capital Ankara on Saturday, an official said.
The accident happened when two freight trains coming in the opposite direction crashed on the Kalecik-Kirikkale route at 6.30 a.m. local time (0330GMT), Ismail Ozdemir, the secretary-general of the United Trade Union of Transport Employees, told the reporters.
Ozdemir said the wagons of the trains were empty and there were just four operators in the two trains.
Operators Hanifi Adem Yuksel and Omer Baltat lost their lives in the accident and Mehmet Karaagac and Murat Ozyilmaz were injured, he said.

Fethiyespor signed a contract with Hakan Horzum, a 22-year-old attacker who transfers from Nevşehir Belediyespor.

The club recently signed a loan agreement with 22-year-old goalkeeper Kubilay Tim Mert Flow, who plays for Tuzlaspor, one of the TFF 1st League teams.

Lastly, Fethiyespor signed an agreement with Yakup Alkan, a 28-year-old F O R V E T player from Çorum FK of the 2nd League teams.
