Classical Concert
Fethiye hosted a four day classical music festival last week.
The festival was named the Benjamin Sönmez Festival in memory of the accomplished Fethiye cellist.
Performances of the works of Chopin, Debussy and Beethoven were performed in Fethiye on the first night to an audience of around 300 people.
Performances took place on subsequent evenings in Gocek and on top of the mile high Babadag mountain.
This Little Piggy Went to Town
Wild pigs and their piglets were seen in the Tasyaka neighbourhood of Fethiye last week.
Parts of that neighbourhood border the undeveloped and wilder scrub and mountain land.
One resident told the press that he sees the boar almost every night.
He said that they snuffle around their bins and said that they are not scared by cars or motorcycles as they pass by.
He said that the numbers have been increasing of late but did not, in his opinion, pose a problem.
7th Lykia Ultra Marathon Starts
The annual ultra marathon event began last week with 250 athletes from all over the world taking part.
The event sees the athletes running, jogging, walking and sometimes scrambling a gruelling 250km along the world famous Lykian Way.
The race is spilt into 6 stages and will finish on 2 October.
School Bus Drivers Trained
It was back to school for thousands of kids in Fethiye last week.
It was also back to school for some of the bus drivers who transport those kids from home to school.
A course run by the local security services was timed to refresh and remind drivers of their responsibilities and to improve safety and wellbeing before the start of the 16/17 term.
As well as the the rules of the road, safe speed and handling the course also explained how drivers can ensure the safety of students whilst inside and getting into and out of the bus.
The Russians Are Back
Dalaman airport welcomed its first returning charter flight of 336 Russian tourists on Friday with a special welcome event.
The Dalaman airport manager told the press he was delighted that relations were now mended between the two countries and that the Russian tourism market was very important.
The charter flights are operating from 4 Russian cities and will continue to fly to Dalaman Airport until the end of October.
Turkish Money
The British Pound bought 3.85 Turkish Lira by the close of trading on Friday.
A Turkish Lira was worth 25 pence.
Last week it bought 3.87 TL.
