Üzümlü Group

The Üzümlü Group (formerly known as the Üzümlü Ladies Group) holds fundraising events to help children in Üzümlü and the surrounding area. They are currently working on a project to update the toilet facilities at the schools in Üzümlü and Nif.

The Üzümlü Group don’t have a shop and donations are mostly sold via their monthly Cake & Bake events held at the Wine House Üzümlü on the last Friday of every month. They also have a stall at the Üzümlü Mushroom Festival every year.

Donations can be left at the Wine House or Eddy’s Place

Embrace Childrens Health Charity

Embrace was the first children’s charity in Çalış and deals mainly with children who have health problems not covered by the Government Health Scheme. They instigated eye tests for all children in the Muğla area, which resulted in paying for hundreds of pairs of spectacles as well as certain medications and operations. They also provide hearing aids at a cost of 5000TL per child.

Embrace have a charity shop in Günlükbası which is located in a side street almost opposite the police station.

They have items on sale at their coffee mornings held every Wednesday between 11am – 1pm at Bambu Restaurant in Çalış

Animal Care Üzümlü (ACU)

Animal Care Üzümlü is a local animal charity in the Üzümlü area founded by Brenda Singleton in 2014, with a great team of volunteers who support the charity.

The charity runs a neuter and release scheme and cares for the general well being of street animals.

ACU rely heavily on sponsorship from local businesses and private sponsors (20tl per month). They are always looking for new sponsors.

Charity events are held twice monthly and include fun quizzes and other fundraising activities. They are well supported by the local community.

ACU also have two local people equipped for dog behaviour and training. They will be offering help, advice and consultation in return for a donation to the charity.

Animal Care Üzümlü

Fethiye Hayvan Dostları (Fethiye Animal Friends)

 

Fethiye Animal Friends carries out activities to protect the life, rights and habitats of all species of animals in and around Fethiye.

Their short term aim is to protect the street animals and they have a longer term goal to develop a community where members of all professions such as employers, teachers and veterinarians, are members of a totally voluntary group dedicated to the welfare of animals.

Each of these charities operates legally under the banner of FETAV (Fethiye Tourism, Promotion, Education, Culture and Environment Foundation).

Mavi Kuş

Mavi Kuş is a government organisation (dernek). They focus on meeting the minimum needs of everyone in society by supporting learning and scholarships, providing food packages for the needy, and donating unwanted books, toys and other items.

Mavi Kuş have a charity shop located at 22 Sokak, Dolgu Sahasi (the old FIG shop) The opening hours are: Monday, Wednesday and Friday 12pm – 2pm.
