Sea Turtle rescued in Göcek

An injured sea turtle was rescued in Göcek on Saturday. The turtle (approximately 70cm long and 45 kilos in weight) was spotted by yacht captain, İlknur Aşar, whilst moored at Boynuz Bay in Göcek. The turtle’s shell was severely cracked near the tail preventing the turtle from swimming to the seabed to feed. Aşar and a crew member immediately took the zodiac boat to rescue the turtle, which was then delivered to DEKAMER (The Sea Turtle Rescue and Rehabilitation Center) in Dalyan.
The team from DEKAMER said the injury was most likely to have been caused by a speed boat.

The first snow of the season fell on Friday on the Kaçkar Mountains located near the Black Sea coast in eastern Turkey, while at the other end of the spectrum the southern and western regions of the country brace for another heat wave from Libya.
One of the highest places of Turkey, the Kaçkar welcomed trekkers and villagers with piles of snow on Friday morning after temperatures dropped below seasonal norms in the northern Rize and Artvin provinces.
The plateaus at about 2,700 m (8,858 ft) in elevation were all covered in white, giving tourists visiting the area a visual treat.
In other parts of Turkey, temperatures are expected to increase at least 5-6 degrees in the upcoming week, meteorologists warned.
Experts said autumn this year may be limited to November, with temperatures during September and October reaching summer levels.
