Göcek Wobbly Boat Race
The Wobbly Boats took to the water again last Sunday in the Wobbly Boat Race in Göcek. Nine teams rose to the challenge to build a boat using only three sheets of plywood, five long batons, string, duct tape and a pack of screws and nails. They had three hours to build and decorate their boats.
Once built, a member of the team then had to stay afloat long enough to complete a 200m course.
The boats are evaluated in two categories, aesthetic beauty and ability to complete the race without sinking.
The British team, Nigel Dean & Co, came first among the nine teams. Göcek D-Marin team came second and Göcek Tennis Club were third.
The beautiful boat and costume category was won by the Göcek gift shop Wasbi.
Speaking at the award ceremony, D-Marin Göcek Marina Manager, Onur Ugan said how successful the day had been and how pleased he was to see more interest in the event every year.
Atatürk Commemoration Day

A ceremony was held in Fethiye on Friday to commemorate the 79th anniversary of the death of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, the founder of the Republic of Turkey.

A wreath was placed at the Atatürk monument in Beşkaza Square and at 09:05 hours, sirens were sounded and a two-minute silence was held. This two-minute silence is observed all over Turkey as a mark of remembrance and respect.
Mustafa Kemal was born in 1881 and died at 9:05 on November 10, 1938.
Murder in the street in Fethiye
A man was shot dead in the street in Fethiye on Tuesday. Eyewitnesses stated that an argument broke out between the victim, Ahmet Arslan (36), and an unidentified male on Turgut Özal Boulevard at 01:30 hours. During the argument, the unidentified male produced a gun and shot Arslan.
Police and health services were dispatched to the scene where Arslan was pronounced dead.
Ahmet Arslan’s body was sent to Mugla Forensic Medicine Institution for an autopsy.
Security forces are searching for the suspect who fled the scene.
November temperatures keep Fethiye beaches busy
Although, strictly speaking, the summer is over, November temperatures are keeping the beaches busy with locals and holidaymakers who are enjoying the balmy weather of up to 24 degrees.
Some were sunbathing, some swimming while others read a book or did yoga.
A group of Russian holidaymakers said “The sun, the weather, the sea, the nature are all beautiful, the indigenous people living here are very lucky, we do not want to leave this warm environment, but after four days our vacation is over”

Fethiyespor started the week of by saying goodbye to their Manager, Hüsnü Özkara. They have had two managers this season so far and are now looking for the third.
Fethiyespor lost their home match against SBS Inşaat Kırklarelıspor yesterday. The final score was 1-2.
After yesterday’s result, Fethiyespor stay in 14th position on the league table.
The next league matches are:
Sunday 19th November away against Sakaryaspor A Ş. Kick off is at 13:30.
Sunday 26th November at home against Silivrispor. Kick off is at 13:30.
