Brand new destination from Belfast International is a Turkish delight!
Jet2.com and Jet2holidays has announced another new destination from Belfast International Airport for Summer 18, with weekly flights to Dalaman in Turkey the latest addition to what is already a hugely expanded flights and holidays programme.
Earlier this year, we launched our Summer 18 programme with eight new destinations. This has now increased to nine brand new destinations with the addition of Dalaman, otherwise known as the ‘Turquoise Coast’ thanks to its stunning seas and coastal scenery.
The new flights to Dalaman will depart every Tuesday from June 26th until September 25th 2018, and mean that we will operate to 23 destinations from Belfast International Airport next summer.
The announcement also means the addition of a second new Turkish destination from the airport for Summer 18, with a new route to Antalya also coming into operation. Other new destinations for Summer 18 include: Almeria, Crete, Madeira, Malta, Naples, Paphos and Rhodes.
A Boeing 737-800 aircraft will be added to the fleet at Belfast International to support a 41% increase in capacity, which represents over 400,000 seats on sale for Summer 18.
Steve Heapy, CEO of Jet2.com and Jet2holidays said: “The Dalaman region offers something for everyone thanks to its stunning coastline and beaches, its array of fabulous resorts, and its rich history. We are confident that Dalaman will be very popular with Northern Ireland holidaymakers, just as our other Turkish destination of Antalya is already proving to be. Turkey is the perfect holiday hotspot and is seeing a huge surge in popularity thanks to its great weather and culture, as well as the fantastic value it offers.
“This latest new destination is part of our biggest ever summer programme from Belfast International Airport. Next summer we will operate to 23 destinations and increase capacity by 41%, and to support that growth we are investing in 30 new jobs and the addition of a Boeing 737-800 aircraft. Such success is only possible by looking after customers, and our continued focus on offering a VIP customer service, great value package holidays and family friendly flights is clearly paying off, as evidenced by the fact that Jet2holidays became the second largest tour operator in the UK just last month.”
Graham Keddie, Managing Director, BIA, said: “Turkey has always been a great destination from Belfast International Airport and we are confident the addition of Dalaman, alongside Antalya, will be extremely popular with local holidaymakers.”

Magnitude 5.0 earthquake shakes Turkey’s southwestern Muğla
An earthquake of magnitude 5.0 shook Ula district in Turkey’s southwestern Muğla province late Wednesday. No casualties have been reported.
The quake hit the Aegean city at 23.22 and there are no casualties or damage following the 5.0 magnitude quake, Muğla Governor Esengül Civelek said in a statement.
The depth of the quake was 5 kilometers, Boğaziçi University’s Kandilli Observatory said, while the United States Geological Survey (USGS) put the number at 10.
The quake was felt in neighboring towns and cities.
Turkey, situated on major seismic fault lines, is regularly hit by earthquakes. The Aegean coast has witnessed several quakes above 5-magnitude since the start of the year.
In July, two foreigners died and more than 100 people were injured on the Greek island of Kos when an earthquake shook the popular Greek and Turkish holiday destinations in the Aegean Sea.

London’s annual Turkish Film Festival goes digital
The 21st annual London Turkish Film Festival has become the world’s first digital film festival, featuring Turkish movies over an internet site.
The website called “Film Turkey” will enable movie lovers from all over the world to watch selected films until Dec. 6, for a much cheaper price than usual movie theater screenings.
Organizers of this year’s London Turkish Film Festival decided to try a go digital after some of the sponsors pulled out due to the ongoing Brexit process in the United Kingdom.
Festival Director Vedide Kaymak told Anadolu Agency that preparations for the online platform actually began two years ago in order to provide the best experience for the festival’s international audience.
The platform is the only online film festival website, featuring the option of choosing more than one subtitle language for a Turkish movie.
Kaymak also added that this year’s London Turkish Film Festival will include over 20 movies, documentaries and short films.
The London Turkish Film Festival was first organized in 1993, screening thousands of Turkish productions and welcoming hundreds of movie lovers and artists each year.
