Fethiye was delighted to welcome Ozlem Warren of Ozlem’s Turkish Table for a return visit last week.
Ozlem first visited Fethiye last year to promote her new cookery book, Özlem’s Turkish Table: Tales from My Homeland.
This year, by popular demand, Ozlem returned to hold book signing events and, for the first time in Fethiye, a cookery class.

I think everyone who attended the events will agree they were fabulous and very special.
Turkish breakfast and book signing at the Yakamoz Hotel
The first event was a Turkish breakfast and book signing at the Yakamoz Hotel in Ovacık.
The hotels new chef, Ferhat and the Yakamoz team produced a feast that was both a delight on the eyes and the taste buds.
Thank you to Nichola Chapman for sharing her photographs with us

Antakya style supper and book signing at Mozaik Bahçe
The next event was an Antakya style supper and book signing at Mozaik Bahçe in Fethiye, a very exciting event for Ozlem as owner Hüseyin and chef Murat are both from Antakya and Mozaik Bahçe specialises in Hatay cuisine. There was time for a relaxing ‘Hatay’ lunch before the preparations in the kitchen.

At both events, Ozlem talked to the guests about Turkish cuisine and told “tales from her homeland”; how she spent time growing up in Antakya where she learned the art of Hatay cuisine at the knee of her mother and grandmother.
Özlem’s Turkish Table: Tales from My Homeland is so much more than just a beautifully illustrated cookery book and listening to Ozlem really brings it to life.
Cooking with Ozlem
This year, for the first time, Ozlem also held a cookery class at the Yakamoz Hotel. Those who were lucky enough to attend had the opportunity to work alongside, get hands on and have some fun with Ozlem in the kitchen.
The recipes
Muhammara (Walnut and red pepper paste dip)

Sebzeli Peynirli Pide (Oval flatbreads with pepper, spinach and feta)

Patlıcanlı Mercimekli Mualla (Aubergines with lentils, peppers and onions cooked in olive oil)

Baked apricots with walnuts.

And what a great time they had …

A perfect end to the class was sitting down and enjoying their creations for lunch. And scrumptious it was too…

Book signings
During each event there was an opportunity to buy a signed copy of the book.

We would like to extend o huge thank you to Ozlem for visiting us in Fethiye and we look forward to the next time…
