Fethiye Times - LOVE-FETHIYE

This article was written for Fethiye Times by Rebecca Parsley

Settle into your seat and prepare to laugh your flip-flops off – the Glamour Girls are back in town!

The talented trio kicked off the 2019 season last week with two sell-out opening shows and are now ready to delight audiences throughout the summer.

Glamour’s heady cabaret mix of glitz, drag, dance, music and comedy has quickly established the show as one of the area’s must-see summer attractions.

Keeping everyone in line is the fabulous Miss BeeHave, backed up by her loyal – and mischievous – sidekick, Joanna Play. This year, the third member of the trio is new girl Marie La Rae, aka 22-year-old George Anthony from Bolton – who is already carving a very definite niche in the group.

“It’s great to have George as part of the show,” says Clark W Burton (Miss BeeHave). “As well as being a talented drag performer he’s also a great singer – so this year we’ve added some live vocals as part of our new programmes.

“Both our A and B shows are at least 50% different to previous years, so even if you’ve seen us before, we promise you something new this time around.”

A family show

If you’ve got kids in tow and wonder whether the show is suitable for them, you can rest easy. The humour gets a little risqué at times, but it’s above the understanding of most young children and there’s no bad language.

There’s plenty of obvious humour they’ll enjoy, and they’ll also love the inclusion of Disney favourites such as Frozen and the new-for-2019 DreamWorks numbers. (Hint – if you’re a Shrek fan, this is definitely for you!)

There’s a revamped ‘Diva’ section, tributes to musicals including Hairspray and Grease and parodies of shows such as Riverdance which showcase the girls’ genuine dance abilities.

Throw in some out-and-out comedy sketches and a very liberal sprinkling of audience interaction, and we defy anyone not to tap their feet, clap their hands, sing along and generally spend three hours laughing out loud.

Save the date for Yaşam İçin Yarış

Last year, the Glamour Girls put on a special show to raise money for Yaşam İçin Yarış – the local version of Race For Life – which raised a phenomenal 14,150 Turkish lira for cancer services in the Fethiye area.

The team has very kindly offered to run the event again this year – full details will be announced soon, but for now make a note in your diary for Thursday, September 26. We promise it will be a night to remember!

When can I see Glamour?

Performances are currently on Tuesday, Friday and Saturday nights, with a fourth show on Wednesdays from June onwards. Dinner is served at 8pm, with the show starting at around 9pm.

Show A and Show B alternate weekly, changing on Saturdays; each features a completely different programme so it’s worth going to see both for the full experience.

Where is it?

Above Migros in Hisarönü. Approach the store from the back and you’ll see a red-carpeted staircase and plenty of signs – you can’t miss it.

Until Glamour moves to four performances a week, the girls also do free mini ‘taster’ shows at VIP bar in Ölüdeniz on Monday and Thursday evenings.

Audience participation is thoroughly encouraged so don’t be shy. Picture by Lyn Ward.

How much are tickets and where can I buy them?

Admission is £22 per person, which includes the show and dinner, and £11 for children aged between four and 12. Under-4s go free.

You can book through VIP bar in Ölüdeniz, your tour company representative, and selected independent excursion and event operators. There is also a dedicated booking desk outside Legends bar in Hisarönü.

Alternatively, you can join the Glamour Hisaronu Facebook group – https://www.facebook.com/groups/269037803276126/.
