Fethiye Times - LOVE-FETHIYE

Tourism in Turkey is gradually restarting after having lost three months of the season due to the coronavirus pandemic. Flights are resuming and hotels are reopening with strict coronavirus measures in place to ensure the safety of their guests

In a survey by the Office for National Statistics on 17 July, just over a quarter of adults said they were likely or very likely to go on holiday in the UK this summer, whilst only just under 1 in 10 adults (9%) said they were likely or very likely to go on holiday abroad.

Data from the Association of British Travel Agents (ABTA) for 2019 shows that 64% of British people took a foreign holiday in 2019 and 72% went on holiday within the UK.

For those still intending to holiday abroad this summer, there’s an extra layer added to the planning – making sure the accommodation is fully compliant with the standards, measures and regulations introduced by the government to ensure a coronavirus safe holiday.

The Yakamoz Hotel

Hidden away, just off the main road in Ovacık, the Yakamoz Hotel is a charming, traditional hotel run by Mehmet Güven and his friendly team. The hotel provides an oasis of calm and relaxation, ideal for those who want to escape from the rat race and enjoy a tranquil, restful holiday.

The Yakamoz Hotel – making a difference to your holiday

Having established that the Yakamoz Hotel is a perfect choice for those who enjoy a quieter holiday – what about coronavirus? How safe will you be?

What can you expect on a coronavirus-safe holiday at the Yakamoz Hotel?

The priority at the Yakamoz is always to make sure their guests have a holiday to remember. This year, the priority is to make sure their guests have a safe holiday to remember.

The hotel has the natural benefit of being small; with only 33 rooms spread across the main hotel building, annex and two self-contained cottages, the hotel is never overcrowded even when full to capacity. Add to that spacious grounds with outdoor restaurant terrace, pool area and large shaded garden and there’s always a quiet corner where you can kick back and relax.

Coronavirus measures introduced by the government are in place and closely monitored by Mehmet and the team.

*Let’s take a closer look…

On arrival, the temperature of guests is checked with a digital thermal thermometer and guests must use the hand sanitiser provided. The same is applicable to staff, delivery workers and visitors. Temperatures are also checked on a daily basis for the duration of your stay. One of the rooms has been allocated for quarantine if needed.

Hand sanitisers are placed in public areas around the hotel.

The coronavirus measures in place are explained to guests on arrival and information posters are displayed in prominent areas. Social distancing markers are in place in areas where guests are likely to form a queue.

In line with the regulations, a new screen has been fitted to separate members of staff from guests at reception, an information-giving and payment point.

A separate bin has been provided in the pool area for the safe disposal of masks and gloves.

Sun loungers are spaced around the pool in line with social distancing guidelines. Guests from the same family can huddle together in a group if they prefer however, social distance must be maintained between separate groups. Sun lounger cushions are of a wipeable material to enable disinfecting after use.

The shady garden area has a varied mix of seating areas, from tables and chairs to hammocks. All are set at a reassuring distance from each other. Find your spot and relax…

What about the restaurant?

The Yakamoz Restaurant reopened on Saturday 18 July, again with measures in place.

In the kitchen there was already a rigorous program for cleaning and disinfecting to comply with food safety regulations. In addition, members of the kitchen team now wear masks and gloves.

The restaurant tables are spaced according to social distance guidelines, menus are laminated to enable them to be disinfected after use, cutlery comes in packets and hand sanitizer is available on all tables, staff waiting tables wear masks and either wear gloves or wash their hands regularly.

Tables and chairs are disinfected when guests leave and before the next guests are seated.

*These are just some of the measures in place at the hotel

Let’s talk about food

It’s delicious! …and there are some new dishes on the menu this year. These are from the breakfast menu.

A treat for afternoon tea lovers

While away a few hours with afternoon tea by the pool. Enjoy a selection of sandwiches and cakes with tea or coffee – or add some sparkle with a glass of chilled Prosecco.

The hotel and restaurant are open to non-residents however, due to coronavirus regulations, you must make a reservation. The hotel cannot accept walk-ins.

Watch out for weekend specials coming soon!

And so …having said that this year, the priority for the Yakamoz is to make sure their guests have a safe holiday to remember, they can’t do it without the cooperation of those same guests. Please remember there is a global pandemic and the guidelines are there to protect everyone. Behave responsibly, follow the guidelines and have a safe and memorable holiday…

Make sure you’re covered
