Cardiology is the study and treatment of disorders of the heart and the blood vessels. A person with heart disease or cardiovascular disease may be referred to a cardiologist.
Cardiology is a branch of internal medicine. A cardiologist is not the same as a cardiac surgeon. A cardiac surgeon opens the chest and performs heart surgery.
A cardiologist specializes in diagnosing and treating diseases of the heart and cardiovascular system.
Heart disease relates specifically to the heart, while cardiovascular disease affects the heart, the blood vessels, or both.
If a person has symptoms of a heart condition, their physician may refer them to a cardiologist.
The most important decision you will then have to make is choosing the right cardiologist.
Dr. Mahmut Kayardı – Cardiologist and Internal Medicine Specialist

Dr Mahmut Kayardı completed his high school education in Kayseri. He graduated from Ege University Faculty of Medicine in 1994. Between 1994-2000, he worked as a general practitioner in Artvin, Arhavi and Fındıklı (Rize) districts. In 1996, he completed his military service in Zonguldak.
In 2000, Dr Kayardı joined Cumhuriyet University Medical Faculty to specialise in internal medicine*. At the end of this four year course he took an exam and was successful in entering Abant Izzet Baysal University Medical Faculty Cardiology Department
*Internal medicine is one of the main branches of specialization in general medicine. The other main branches are surgical sciences and all diseases that do not require a surgical procedure are within the field of internal diseases.
Over the years, areas such as chest diseases, neurology, pediatrics, psychiatry have separated from internal diseases and have become independent branches.
An Internal Medicine Specialist is a primary care physician (similar to a General Practitioner in the UK in many ways) who treats a variety of illnesses or, depending on the diagnosis, refers patients to an appropriate specialist.
After graduation, Dr Kayardı was appointed to Mersin Anamur State Hospital before establishing his own Heart Centre where he worked for three years as a heart and internal medicine specialist. He then moved on to establish a private hospital with a group of colleagues where he is still one of the partners.

On moving to Fethiye in 2013, Dr. Kayardı joined the Letoon Private Hospital as a specialist in cardiology and internal medicine and was the chief physician for two years, after which he worked at the Esnaf Private Hospital.
In 2020, Dr. Kayardı established his own private clinic where he works as a specialist in cardiology and internal medicine.
He is a member of the Turkish Cardiology and Internal Medicine Society and has thirty-two published articles in both national and international journals.
Dr Kayardı lives in Fethiye and is married with two teenage children.
What services does the clinic provide?

The brand new clinic is equipped with state-of-the-art facilities to ensure patients are evaluated, diagnosed and treated with a focus on patient satisfaction, health and confidentiality.
Facilities and services
Electrocardiography (EKG)
Gives us the opportunity to have a look at the heart’s functions by having its electrical activity printed on paper.
Transthoracic Echocardiography (Echo)
Gives us the opportunity to have a look at the heart’s two dimensional and instant image by using high frequency sound waves. We also measure the viscosity of fluids by Dopler Function.
24 hour EKG holster
Records the heart’s functions for 24 hours by using electrodes attached to the chest and transferring them to a computer where the results are analysed.
24 hour blood pressure holster
Similar to blood pressure measuring equipment but with a function to measure and record the blood pressure at 20-minute to one-hour intervals. The data is transferred to a computer enabling us to examine the changes in blood pressure for 24 hours.
EKG Stress Test
Lets your doctor know how your heart responds to being pushed. You walk on a treadmill that makes your heart work progressively harder. An electrocardiogram (ECG) monitors your heart’s electrical rhythms. This method yields important information to deal with Coronary Artery misfunction.
