‘Paraglide Pack’ jump for Animal Aid
On Wednesday 17 May four expats took a ‘leap’ from Babadağ to raise money for Animal Aid (AA), a local animal charity.
Animal Aid helps, heals, fosters and re-homes sick, injured and abandoned street dogs and cats from in and around Fethiye.
Gareth Patten, Sarah Akkaya, Gloria Pattison and Ishbel Taromsari (AKA World Bike Girl) formed a ‘paragliding pack’ and set about planning a sponsored paragliding event from the world renowned Babadağ (Father Mountain) in Ölüdeniz.
The big day
The big day dawned to somewhat unsettled weather and it was touch and go as to whether or not the flight would have to be postponed.
This didn’t deter the intrepid team of fundraisers who slowly made their ascent, with local experts Sky Sports, up to a height of 1200 metres above sea level.

Once the gusty winds subsided, all four adventurers took off safely, soaring over the stunning scenery of Ölüdeniz with its famous lagoon, beach and turquoise waters.
