One minutes silence for victims of Manchester arena bomb attack held in Hisarönü
Hundreds of people gathered in Manchester city centre to observe a minute’s silence to remember the victims of the arena bomb attack on Monday.
They were joined by holidaymakers and locals who gathered at the fountain in Hisarönü at 1pm local time to observe the minutes silence and show respect to the victims and their families.
Sue Soffe, a holiday maker in Hisarönü arranged for the minutes silence via social media.
A poem was read and and everyone linked arms in unity around the fountain for the emotional minutes silence.
Fethiye – Kayaköy road widening begins
At the end of last year more than 500 trees were felled on the winding forest road between Fethiye and Kayaköy. There were protests as well as discussions in favour of the project but for the past few months there had been no action. But all this changed last week when the road was once again “closed to traffic” and earth moving machinery arrived. It is now clear that the road widening has finally begun in earnest.
Reports suggest that the work will take approximately two month.

Updated and improved area opened in Göcek
Fethiye Municipality have carried out improvements on a 4200 square meter area in Göcek.
Buildings have been painted in pastel colours and a landscaped area with seating provided.
An opening ceremony was attended by Fethiye Mayor, Behçet Saatçı who thanked everyone involved in the project before walking round the new area.
Fethiye Municipality Band also gave a performance on the streets of Göcek.
The Holy Month of Ramazan begins
The Holy Month of Ramazan began on Friday evening for many millions of Muslims in Turkey.
This year, three Iftar tents will be set up in Fethiye town centre. One in the gardens behind the Fethiye İmam Hatip Secondary School (Old Fethiye High School), one in the garden of Menteşeoğlu Elementary School and one in the area of the Çatarlarık Social Facilities.

Traditional mobile Iftar tents will also go to Oludeniz, Karaçulha, Göcek and Üzümlü for the 30 days of Ramazan.
Ramazan food aid packages will be distributed this week as well as hot food to old people and those with disabilities who cannot get out of their homes.
What a way to spend your birthday
Mick Scarsbrook is a man who is very passionate about the environment and campaigns endlessly against fly tipping and rubbish not being disposed of responsibly.
It was Mick’s birthday on Wednesday and how did he choose to spend it? He organised a clean up of an area near Hillside Beach Club – and what a fantastic turn out he had.
