If you’re looking for a kebab restaurant that ‘hits the spot’, Babzen Kebab is the place for you.
The kebab originated in Turkey when, during the Ottoman Empire, soldiers used to grill chunks of fresh meat, skewered on a sword over an open fire. They were called şiş (sword) kebabs.
Kebabs have a significant place in modern cuisine and there are now many varieties, with other famous kebabs including Adana kebab and Urfa kebab.
Babzen Kebab
Babzen Kebab is owned by Salih Çetinel, who many of you will know from King’s Garden, a popular restaurant in Fethiye.

With 22 years experience at King’s Garden, offering dishes from the International Kitchen, Salih liked the idea of also having a restaurant offering purely authentic cuisine and, last year, he became the new owner of Babzen Kebab on Barış Mancero Bulvarı in Çalış.
All year round dining
The restaurant has a garden area and bar for summer dining and entertaining and, for the chilly winter months, an indoor area with a log burner.

It’s all about the food
Babzen Kebab has a mouthwatering selection of authentic Turkish dishes, all cooked and prepared using traditional methods.
The menu isn’t so gigantic as to make you feel anxious about what to order in case you miss anything. It offers breakfast, hot and cold starters, salads, pide and pizza, güveç (casseroles) and a mouthwatering selection of the keynote dishes, kebabs. New dishes are added to the menu every year so watch out for those.

Speciality kebabs
Chances are, if you’re at Babzen, it’s because you want to enjoy one of their kebabs …and they truly are special. Salih will always help you choose if you can’t decide.

Adana Sarma (Chef Special Adana)

If you really want a real kebab fest, order a Babzen kebab platter to share.

Whatever you choose, it will come with lavaş, piping hot crispy bread that blows up as it cooks in the traditional bread oven.

I’m a vegetarian
Kebab restaurants serve predominantly meat dishes but don’t worry, if you have a vegetarian in your group, there are veggie options available.
Special occasions
Babzen can also cater for parties and special occasions so if you have a celebration coming up, go along and talk to Salih.

Takeaway service
Good news for those evenings when you don’t fancy whipping up a creation in the kitchen, Babzen will very soon be offering a takeaway service.
More than a restaurant
If you’re looking for somewhere to stay, Babzen is also a six boutique-room hotel as well as a restaurant. Book for bed & breakfast or half board (on request only).
The hotel and restaurant is ideally positioned a ten minute walk away from the resort of Çalış. Perfect if you don’t want to be too near the busy centre.
The rooms are tastefully decorated and each has an ensuite.

Turkish Gem with great wood fired oven cuisine.
“This new restaurant just outside the centre of Calis has a lovely garden and a large covered area with a great view of the wood fired oven. This was a superb dining experience with really tasty lamb and chicken dishes served in large portions with wood fired bread toppings and accompaniments such as puffa bread with dips. Add friendly owner, excellent wine, raki and beers, baked desserts and competitive prices and this is an essential dining experience when in Calis.”
“Lovely garden setting. Friendly helpful staff explained some of the Chef specials in depth. Food was beautifully presented – tasted amazing and was such good value for money, The red wine apparently was spot on and the lemonata was gorgeous. Only opened April this year – but what a good find.”
