Drivers have been warned to expect road closures in central Fethiye this evening as the town prepares to welcome President Recep Tayyıp Erdoğan.
The president is scheduled to tour the Muğla region tomorrow as part of Justice and Development Party (AK Party) preparations for the coming local elections on Sunday, March 31.
He is expected to arrive in Fethiye in the late afternoon and attend a political rally in the centre of town.
Affected roads
The following roads will be closed from 8pm this evening:
- Atatürk Street (the interchange between Köprübaşı junction and the Palm junction)
- Çarşı Street (between Kandönmezler and the Kavşağı interchange)
- Muzaffer Dontlu Street (between Sadi Berkmen Street and İnönü Boulevard)
- Gaffar Okan Street
- Köprübaşı 138. Street (in front of the Chamber of Commerce)
- Cahit Gündüz Street
- Pürşahbey Street
- 501/1 Street (in front of the Orka Hotel)
- 97. and 101. Street where a no parking or stopping zone will be imposed.
The following roads will also be closed from noon tomorrow:
- Atatürk Street
- Gaffar Okan Street
- Muzaffer Dontlu Street
- İnönü Buolevard
- Çarşı Street
- Cahit Gündüz Street
- Pürşahbey Street
- 501/1, 97, 101 Sokak with connecting roads also closed to traffic.
Drivers are warned to expect delays throughout the day and urged to follow instructions given by traffic police, officers of the Jandarma and other authorities involved.
