Winter walking – Hisarönü to Kayaköy

A walk in the winter has an appeal all of it’s own. After the weather we’ve had this year, sunny days make you want to get out in the fresh air and enjoy the beautiful countryside.

Add to that, the boost to your mood and fitness levels and there’s no excuse to stay indoors.

Here’s a great local walk that’s ideal for a Sunday outing.

Hisarönü to Kayaköy

This pleasant walk of just over 10km, starts from just behind the Hotel Telmessos in Hisarönü.

The path and takes you through the pine forest to Kayaköy. There are a couple of hilly sections at the beginning but mostly it is flat or downhill.

There are waymarkers along the path so keep an eye out for them.

Eventually the path brings you out in the abandoned village in Kayaköy.

Once you reach Kayaköy you can either stop there or take a walk round the village. There is a circular walk around Belen that takes about an hour if you want to walk further.

A perfect end to a wonderful walk is Sunday lunch in Kayaköy

We went to Caspers where Michelle and her team provided us with the most delicious roast dinner followed by lemon cheesecake. And boy were we ready for it!
