The first competition of the FBA 2019 season was held on April 4th and 5th, with 24 members battling it out for the Non-Winners Cup. This is a contest, sometimes referred to as the Loser’ Cup, which is open to all our members who did not win a Singles Competition or a Divisional trophy last year.
Over two days we saw some excellent bowling, highlighting the continuing improvement throughout the club. But, there can only be two finalists and one eventual winner and this year saw Rob Tomkys taking on Alec Gordon in a hotly contested match.
The result was always in doubt and, after 26 ends of bowling, the score was tied at 19 each, with 21 being the target.
Rob finished it off in style, scoring with both woods to take the match and the Cup, 21-19.
Congratulations to Rob and commiserations to Alec.
